Hello, August.

"I love it when a plan comes together." - John "Hannibal" Smith.

So, my YouTube is out. I know that's not a full sentence, but let's be real—these are blog posts, not perfectly structured essays. (Okay, fine, I know they're more than just blog posts, but… see? I'm already spiraling. This is why I use scripts.)

If I haven't properly introduced myself yet—hi, I'm Deidre Annette. I'm starting a podcast. And, if I'm being honest, that's another reason I stick to scripts. I'm creating a universe, and it all begins with a podcast.

Scary Hours is my brainchild—the bridge between my fictional world and my professional one. When I first fell in love with writing, I carried the submission guidelines for Triple Crown Publications in my binder sleeve like they were sacred texts. Skipping Algebra to check in on my characters felt way more important than quadratic equations.

Back then, I had big dreams. Spoiler alert: I still do. They're just even bigger now! I wanted to be a bestselling writer, a full-time mom, and a part-time soul snatcher. (Because I sang so well, duh! What were you thinking?)

…Okay, let's be real—I cannot sing. But if we get there, we get there.

The point is, I never imagined I'd be here, saying that I created, wrote, and performed my first narrative podcast. And yet—here we are.

"Set somewhere between 1970 and 2020-now, author Deidre Annette retraces her steps to find where she left the Super Ordinary Safehouse.

Along with COCO3XS, the last living siren, Deidre Annette wakes up trapped in a deadly matryoshka of vaults, each layer built from their darkest memories and buried secrets. To break free, she must face the shadows she left in her own backyard."

Join me—yes, me, Deidre Annette—and the rest of the royal family as we fight back against the dark curse and attempt to reunite the Fourth Realm… for the 11th time. Come along for the ride, set against a mystical soundscape, and uncover the secrets of the—wait. You know what? Just listen. You'll get it.

Thank you.

See you next week.

And next up? Deidre Annette Explains "The Blueprints."

If you haven't noticed, I'm a little awkward. All of this—the sharing, the talking, the putting-myself-out-there—is terrifying in ways I can't fully explain. Unless, of course, you've ever chased a dream so hard that you ran until you couldn't afford to keep running…

But that's a story for another time.
